Courses Offered

Duration :
The Bachelor of Optometry program is a 4-year course comprising 3 years of academic study and 1 year of compulsory internship. Gain practical experience and real-world exposure during the internship phase at KD Hospital, a core part of your learning experience.

Eligibility :
Candidate must have passed at the external evaluation in higher secondary examination under 10+2 education pattern or equivalent examination with physics, chemistry, biology and English. Eligible candidate should have completed the age of 17 years by 31st December of the year of his/her joining the college.

Skills You Will Acquire

  • Correction of refractive errors of the eye and prescription of glasses.
  • Detection of eye-related systemic and neurological diseases.
  • Designing and fitting contact lenses, aniseikonic lenses, and low vision aids.
  • Diagnosis and Orthoptic treatment of Oculomotor malfunctions such as heterophoria and strabismus.
  • Providing primary eye care in various settings such as in schools, colleges, urban slums, and rural areas, and in an industrial setting
  • Optometric counselling of patients with partial sight, colour blindness, and hereditary vision defects.
  • Evaluation of health status and pathological conditions of the eye and visual system and referral of patients to specialists at the appropriate stage.
